Flowers Are A Girl’s Best Friend

I am a fan of flowers. In fact, I’ve been a fan of flowers since I was just a little girl. My grandmother didn’t have the luxury of a garden for her New York City apartment and so she was fond of planting them in the flower box that sat just outside of her living room window. We would pick flowers whenever we visited the countryside on trips outside of the city to visit our family.

These days, I don’t have as much time to pick flowers in the countryside, and they aren’t as easy to find blooming around the city. On those occasions when I long for the bright vivid colors and exotic fragrances that only nature can bring, I call a florist, usually at 1-800-Flowers, for a bouquet that will brighten my place and my mood.

I also find that flowers are the perfect gift for birthdays, anniversaries and holidays. And they give any dinner party or special celebration that extra something. There is just something about walking into a room and seeing a beautiful bouquet or basket of flowers as a centerpiece.

Better still, flowers are also great accessories. Flowers can be worn as a necklace (think leis) or in your hair. I love diamonds (who doesn’t?) but sometimes I think that flowers are a girl’s best friend. Flowers are nature’s way of accessorizing and showing beauty in its natural state.
